Coming together as a community is something we highly value at Satya. With each of us leading lives across a diverse array of experiences, beliefs, and backgrounds, the practice of yoga facilitates a greater connection with ourselves and each other.
Community Conversations is a space where members of the Satya community -- and beyond -- can continue the unifying practice of yoga through intentional dialogue. As we practice listening to others without judgment, sharing honestly about ourselves, and cultivate patience and presence as we witness this process, this offering allows us to integrate fundamentals of yoga philosophy, namely ahimsa (nonviolence) and satya (truth).
Participants will be seated in a circle and have the opportunity to respond to a series of thoughtfully prepared questions led by a facilitator, Madison, who will guide participants through thoughtfully prepared conversations centered around a particular theme. In order to ensure a respectful and patient space for all, each conversation will follow a set of communal guidelines for participation.

The season of stillness is upon us. As cold winds of Winter move swiftly through the atmosphere, and as daylight gives way to longer nights, life adapts by drawing inward. Heeding the signs of a warmer season, we reserve our outward energy, instead taking the opportunity of this season as a time for rest and reflection. To honor this time for reflective quietude, the Satya Book Club will read Seedtime: a meditation on life itself. Join Madison during the month of February as she guides thoughtful discussion about the season, and seeds.

Join Hollie for a deep dive into the heart of the winter season. Pulling from astrological, taoist, and other ancient philosophies, we will honor the middle of winter through contemplation of the essence of the season and end with a reflective and restorative yin yoga practice.
Each season contains qualities that, although inherently part of our essence, can get lost if we don't take time to slow down, reflect, listen, and integrate. Arriving to a state of deep listening, while contemplating the nature of what is swirling through the cosmos, oceans, and our own energy, can create and strengthen paths of clarity. When we slow down and nurture the light held deep within, there is potential for more authentic ease and harmony throughout all aspects of our lives.
We will review how this time of year was examined and translated in ancient times, look at current astrological movements of the stars, and move into a yin practice meant to open further to information held within, and integrate it all into our cells. During this practice we will not look at individual birth charts, though having some knowledge of yours can be helpful.

Resourced & Resilient: One Day Retreat
This day long retreat will blend ancient wisdom with modern neurophysiology to create movement, breathing and meditation practices that emphasize our ability to feel resourced and work towards increased resiliency. Resilience refers to the ability to successfully adapt to stressors, and maintaining well-being in the face of adversity. Resiliency requires self-awareness to know and understand how we are responding to a situation so that we can change our reaction or behavior. Research has shown that just like building muscle to improve our physical strength, there are things we can do to build resiliency. Some of the most powerful things we can do is breathe, move, and rest. This day long retreat will include all of the above, while incorporating a wide variety of therapeutic tools in a safe and sacred space. The retreat will be held in Mary's backyard studio, and is limited to only 8 participants.
The day will include:
- Opening and closing circles for community connection
- Discussion of ancient techniques and modern applications for building resiliency
- Grounding yoga practices
- Nourishing food
- Myofascial release
- Journaling or artistic activities for self-reflection
- Breathwork
- Guided Meditation
- Deep rest accompanied with sound
*** Mary's backyard studio is just a few minutes north of Studio Satya. The address, alongside additional retreat details, will be sent out via email the day before the retreat. A hearty soup, fruit, cheese and bread will be served during the retreat. If you have dietary restrictions, please email Mary, upon booking at mary@studiosatya.com
