Throughout the Winter Season, we will have soup and snacks provided as an opportunity to share a meal as we settle into our time together

Community Conversations is a way to build community through conversation. Coming together as a community is something we highly value at Satya. While each of us leads lives across a diverse array of experiences, beliefs, and backgrounds, the practice of yoga is what unites us all – building a greater connection with ourselves, and each other.

Community Conversations is a space where members of the Satya community – and beyond – continue the unifying practice of yoga through purposeful, facilitated conversations. Much like the physical practice of yoga asana (poses), the practice of intentional conversation is a practice of connection and awareness. As we exercise our capacity for purposeful and patient communication, we gain a greater understanding of ourselves and others, build a stronger sense of community, and carry compassion forward into the rest of our lives.

This practice integrates fundamental tenets of yoga philosophy, namely ahimsa (nonviolence) and satya (truth), while using the framework of Community Building Circles (CBCs) to facilitate the intentional time together. In each 90-minute gathering, Madison will guide participants through thoughtfully prepared questions that center around a particular theme, to which all participants have the opportunity to respond. In order to ensure a respectful space for all, conversations follow community-established guidelines. Read more about these down below.

CURRENT THEME THROUGHOUT WINTER 2025: Quiet Curiosity

This season of Community Conversations will center around the theme of Quiet Creativity

Creativity is often thought of as an entirely generative happenstance. The process of creativity is something admired because of how it unfolds, with appreciation of one's creativity being dependent upon experiencing their product of self-expression. Yet so much of the creative process is just that -- a process. One's creativity is often quiet, imperceptible to others. Much like the roots of a tree expand beneath our feet and beneath our awareness so that it can grow itself to greater heights, the creative process endures incredible challenges underneath the surface as we contemplate how our unique expression of the self can be shared with the world.

The season of winter serves as a reminder for us to draw inward and cultivate a self-awareness that is intimately connected to the process of creativity. Together, our community will reflect upon this unique form of self-expression through intentional dialogue guided by compassion and curiosity. As we share our sense of self with one another, we will build awareness around the complex yet quiet nature of creativity.

Conversations in this theme will start January 15th and continue through the end of winter.

    45,00 $One-Day Workshop (2026-01-31)

You may have experienced the grounding benefits of yoga, yet still feel like you’re skimming the surface of your inner world. Or perhaps your practice brings you ease, but sometimes becomes a place to avoid what is feeling challenging. Spaces of comfort matter. And when the time is right, it can be supportive to meet yourself and life more fully.

In this workshop, we’ll bring together gentle movement and principles from Somatic Experiencing® to help you listen to your body, make room for the sensations and emotions that arise, and grow your capacity to move through life’s ups and downs with steadiness and care.

    In this workshop, we will:

    • Explore gentle asana and movement as ways to come into relationship with the sensations, stories, and emotions held in the body.

    • Learn how to track your internal experience—including sensation, breath patterns, muscle tone, and heart rate—while practicing the Somatic Experiencing® principles of pacing and titration, so you can stay within a supportive range.

    • Practice simple tools for regulation and rest, building a sense of steadiness in the nervous system and expanding your capacity to meet both ease and challenge.

    • Begin to recognize the cues of regulation and dysregulation in your body and learn what supports you in moments of activation, overwhelm, or shutdown.

We’ll close with a brief iRest® yoga nidra practice and take time to notice how your body responds. You’ll be invited to reflect on any shifts as a way of gently integrating what you explored and giving your system space to settle before we end our time together.

    Who This Is For:

Anyone seeking a gentle, embodied way to reconnect with themselves—whether you're newer to somatic work or wanting to deepen your practice.

No prior experience with yoga or Somatic Experiencing® is necessary.

    All bodies are welcome.

Written over fifty years ago this book remains as relevant as the day it was written.

Set on a frozen world where gender is fluid and difference shapes every relationship, this story asks important questions:

How do we truly understand one another?

What happens when fear hardens into division?

What becomes possible when we choose empathy, patience, and trust?

We’ll explore how this novel mirrors our modern moment—and how practices like yoga, listening, and imagination help us soften binaries and stay human in complex times.
